GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Excavation and documentation of test locations.

  • Collection, laboratory processing, and identification and documentation of cultural materials.

  • Archival research.

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Volunteer Museum Technician, Northeast Museum Services, Fall 2002.

    • Helped in re-housing 18th and 19th century manuscripts into acid free folders.

  • Volunteer Museum Technician, Morristown National Historic Park, Fall 2001.

    • Helped in re-housing manuscripts into acid free folders.

  • Volunteer Archaeological Technician, TRC Garrow Associates Inc., Summer 2001.

    • Provided assistance in a Phase II Archaeological Survey of Great Smoky Mountain National Park land in preparation of negotiations of a land exchange with the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation.

  • Student Conservation Association Intern, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Summer 2001.

    • Worked within the Cultural Resources Management Branch of the park assisting the Park Archaeologist with her duties to the park: Compliance, office management of information and minimal backcountry survey.

    • Assisted the museum technician in the archiving of historical material and the re-housing of artifacts and was given the opportunity to volunteer with other branches within the park, including Ecology and Vegetation Management.

EDUCATION

  • Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, New Jersey

    • Anthropology and History with minors in Archaeology and Theatre

  • University of Oregon Pacific Northwest Historic Preservation Field School, Ebey's Landing, Whidbey Island, Washington

    • The field school focused on the Ferry House (ca. 1860), and Jacob Ebey Blockhouse (ca. 1855) located within the Ebey's Landing National Historic Reserve.

    • It provided more experience in National Park excavation of test units and excavation units.

    • Also provided experience in Ground-Penetrating Radar. Stabilization of the Ferry House and replacing sill logs of the Blockhouse was also taught.

    • Cultural Landscape analysis and management was also thoroughly instructed.

  • Heritage Conservation Network, Long Valley, New Jersey

    • Conservation workshop involved stone repointing and interior woodworking conservation and reconstruction of the ca. 1751 Obadiah La Tourette Grist & Saw Mill of Long Valley, New Jersey

COMMUNITY

  • Judged Group Junior Projects at the State Level for New Jersey National History Day Competition, Spring 2002.

  • Assists with family's genealogical search, 1985-present.

  • New Jersey National History Day team member, 1994-1998.

  • 11th New Jersey Company E Re-enactors, 1993-present.

  • Assisting with Washington Township, Morris County NJ Historical Society's librarian, Mary Sliker, with exhibits and activities, 1990-1999.
